New Releases:

We had three rad releases this week that you will not want to miss.

On Tuesday one of the most original and interesting artists on our roster, John Grant, released his album Pale Green Ghosts. Recorded in Iceland and featuring Sinead O’Connor on guest vocals, the brilliant Pale Green Ghosts adds sublime notes of dark, gleaming electronica to the anticipated velveteen ballads, calling on all of Grant’s influences and tastes. We cannot stress how amazing this artist is enough. Please do yourself a favor and get into him. Also his live show will blow you away. Be sure to check back on the Lip Sync Blog on Tuesdays for tour dates near you!

Have you been dying to find that perfect CD to act as a soundtrack for Summer 2013? Well look no further. The debut album by the LA-based Classixx is now available! Stacked with jams, featuring collaborations with Active Child, Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem and Sarah Chernoff of Superhumanoids, this CD will put you in the perfect mood for all of your summer BBQs and long days in the sun. Be sure to check it out now!

Last, but certainly not least, was the release of Beyond Wilderness, an album by one of our most recent signings, Gold & Youth. The Vancouver-based band write songs tinged with nostalgic desire. Their music evokes memories of neo-noir Los Angeles, cinematic haze and midnight solitudes. Beyond Wilderness draws on aesthetics and instrumentation reminiscent of the 1980s. Dark and expansive synthetic textures are punctuated by programmed drums and interwoven with melancholy vocals, detuned synth melodies and understated guitars. The album varies from the cold, industrial sounds of Depeche Mode to the tenderness of Avalon-era Roxy Music. Check out the album and find out why tracks like “Jewel” and “Time To Kill” are constantly being played on the Lip Sync office speakers!

Then on Tuesday night, catchy electro-rock act ANR had their song featured on “My Father Worked with Planes” on Season 3 of MTV’s show “Awkward.” Click here to catch up on any episodes you may have missed!

Press:

Lots of news was flying around the Lip Sync office this week! Check out which of our bands were featured in different press outlets below.

DWNTWN

Pop Sync’s very own DWNTWN is pleased to announce that they are officially signed on to open for Capital Cities for several dates of their US tour this summer! We could not be more thrilled for them. They pick up the tour with Gold Fields in Colorado Springs on May 21 and finish in Los Angeles with two sold out shows at the El Rey Theatre, June 6 and June 7.

As if that weren’t exciting enough, DWNTWN’s new collaboration with Jhameel and Giraffage, “Move Me” (which PITCHFORK calls a “sparkling electro-pop single”) reached #3 on Hype Machine and was also selected for the recently released Kitsuné America 2 compilation. This is the second time DWNTWN has been featured on one of Kitsuné’s trendsetting compilations. Their song “See My Eyes” was chosen last year for the first Kitsuné America release and this song too reached #3 on Hype Machine.

YOUNG LONDON

In other indie-pop world news, catchy pop duo Young London has officially launched their kickstarted campaign to self-release their new EP and launch their US tour! Check out the EP and learn more about the band’s campaign here!
