Amanda Palmer & the Grand Theft Orchestra

Provocative, irreverent, controversial, entertaining and artistic, Amanda Palmer is a fearless singer, songwriter, playwright, blogger and an audaciously expressive pianist who simultaneously embraces – and explodes – traditional frameworks of music, theater and art. Amanda Palmer began her musical career as one half of the internationally acclaimed punk cabaret band The Dresden Dolls. In 2008 she released her debut solo album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer, produced by Ben Folds and accompanied by a fine art photography book featuring text by esteemed author Neil Gaiman (who Palmer has since married). She raised eyebrows as the gender-bending “emcee” in the prestigious American Repertoire Theatre’s production of “Cabaret”, and has been dubbed “The Social Media Queen of Rock-N-Roll” by The Huffington Post for her widely-read blog and twitter-feed (over 500,000 followers). Most recently she was included in TIME magazine’s “140 Twitter feeds that are shaping the online conversation in 2012.”  In September 2012 Amanda will release a new album with her new band, The Grand Theft Orchestra, followed by extensive touring the U.S., Europe and Australia. In conjunction with the new album she will also present a 30-aritst Global Pop-Up Art Tour, taking the concept of crowd-sourcing to an entirely new level. Amanda Palmer splits her time between New York City and Melbourne, Australia, and would like for you to visit her on the internetz.
